Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart admits goal blunder

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has admitted responsibility for the mix-up that led to Blackburn Rovers scoring in the 1-1 draw at Eastlands on Saturday.

The 24-year-old said a lack of communication between himself and City defender Kolo Toure gifted Blackburn's Nikola Kalinic an easy tap-in.

Hart told the club's website: "I got there and Kolo was about to head it. He heard me coming and left it.

"It was me getting in the way. I hold my hands up. I am sorry for that."

Hart is likely to be rested for the Europa League game in Salzburg.

Following the trip to Austria, City make a Premier League trip to Wigan with five points from their opening four matches but Hart is not concerned with their form so far, adding: "Defensively we feel as though we have made a decent start to the season.

"We have still conceded only one goal from open play and that was a pretty freaky one."

Hart, who was chosen ahead of Shay Given for the number one spot at Eastlands, made an impressive start to the season, pulling off a string of crucial saves to keep a clean sheet against Tottenham.

City have since conceded only two goals in their six matches this season - the other goal coming from Darren Bent's penalty for Sunderland.

After assuming the goalkeeping jersey with England, Hart then suffered a shaky spell for his country during the Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland last week, followed by the error for his club.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini refused to blame his keeper following the mistake on Saturday.

"It was a strange goal," said the Italian. "It can happen, this is football. Joe Hart is a good goalkeeper."
