Barton apologises to boss Keegan
Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton has personally apologised to manager Kevin Keegan for his behaviour at the players' Christmas party last weekend.

The 22-year-old Liverpudlian was fined a record six weeks' wages for poking City team-mate Jamie Tandy in the eye with a cigar.

"It is one thing hearing the statement read out yesterday," said Keegan.

"What meant much more was to see him stand in front of me in a room and hear him say how upset and sorry he was."
