Kevin Keegan saluted his Manchester City side after they thrashed Charlton for their first win of the season.
"I was very pleased with the attitude of the players, and I think we laid to rest a few things in this stadium too," Keegan told BBC Sport.
"We've played better here and lost before but we finished the game off in style and sent the fans home happy.
"We know this is a results business and we'd like to have 12 points instead of four, but we're delighted with today."
He added: "The players have worked really hard to make this happen. They played well against Fulham on the opening day and only got a point.
"So we can go into the international break with a win behind us and that's a big boost, not just for me but for all the players too.
"I thought Shaun Wright-Phillips was wonderful. He's one of the few players who can light up the Premiership just by making a tackle.
"The fans appreciate him and he does them, that's why he's just signed a new contract.
"Nicolas Anelka was great too - he's just ignored all the speculation and coped really well - he'll be in the top scorers list at the end of the season."
