Summerbee tips Keegan for glory

Summerbee: Believes Keegan can turn things around
Former Manchester City star Mike Summerbee believes Kevin Keegan can bring the glory days back to Maine Road.

Keegan replaced Joe Royle in the Maine Road hot-seat at the end of last season after City were relegated back into Division One.

His first task will be to try to get City back into the promised land of Premiership football following relegation to Division One.

I know Kevin very well and I think you have seen the last of him walking out on clubs

Summerbee said: "Joe Royle did a fantastic job but football is ever changing and sometimes things don't work out how you would expect them to.

"It is sad because Joe is a very, very nice man. Now Kevin is in charge - an ex-England man just in case anyone needs reminding.

"His name and reputation will attract not only players but also corporate and commercial business to the club.

"When you add to the fact that we are not long off moving to a new stadium, then the future does look very bright."

Keegan is known to have a habit of heading for the exit door when the going gets tough.

But Summerbee is adamant that Keegan will see his contract out at Maine Road.

"I know Kevin very well and I think you have seen the last of him walking out on clubs," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"He knows what he wants and what he is doing and I think he and Manchester City have linked up at just the right time."
