Macclesfield release Jon Brain but make Rooney offer

Macclesfield have released keeper Jon Brain along with 10 other players including striker Matthew Tipton.

Brain, 27, took the Moss Rose players' player of the year award this season while 30-year-old Tipton ends his third spell with the Silkmen.

Lee Bell, Paul Bolland, Kris Dennis, Sean Hessey, Francois Kompany, Craig Lindfield, Stephen Reed, Kyle Wilson and Ben Wright have also been let go.

Wayne Rooney's brother John, 20, has been offered an undisclosed deal.

Right-back, Matt Lowe, 19, has agreed a one-year deal to stay at the club.
