Macclesfield striker Martin Carruthers has left the club by mutual consent.
Carruthers has played for nine clubs in his 14-year career
The 31-year-old, who joined from Scunthorpe last summer, was told earlier this month that he could leave the Silkmen by manager Brian Horton.
"He wants to be playing games at this stage in his career and we have plenty of options here so I could not promise him anything," Horton explained.
"I may now be able to look in other areas. This may give me leeway to bring someone in," he told the club website.
