Silkmen snap up quintet
Macclesfield Town have secured the services of five players ahead of the new season.

Midfielders Richard Eyre and Andy McAvoy have joined from Port Vale and Hartlepool respectively after impressing in the Silkmen's pre-season schedule.

Defender Michael Welch and former Hull City goalkeeper Steve Wilson - who were both on loan at the club last term - have also put pen to paper and signed for the club.

Steve Hodgson, another promising keeper who was released by Manchester City over the summer, completes the quintet.

"The players' attitude and application has been top drawer and I'm delighted to have been able to get them all," Macclesfield director of football Gil Prescott told the club's website.

"I'd like to thank the board for going out on a limb to give these players to our supporters," he added.
