Lennie leaves Luton

Lennie Lawrence has surprisingly parted company with Luton Town after the club's new owners decided on a change at the top.
Lawrence arrived at Kenilworth Road in December 1995, but has struggled to make a major impact on a shoestring budget. Chairman Mike Watson-Challis and his board hope to make an announcement about a new manager within a few days. Lawrence took over with Luton at the foot of Division One, and leaves after the club struggled in the Second Division last season. He has left after agreeing a financial package with the Luton board and will now await his next challenge.
"I would also like to wish Luton Town FC and all its supporters every success for the future. "Although the time of my departure has taken me by surprise, I believe the new owners will take the club forward and I wish them every success." Lawrence, 52, made his name by taking Charlton into the Premiership and keeping them there on a shoestring for four years until 1990.
