Luton Town have signed Peterborough striker Liam Hatch on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent move.

The 27-year-old joined Posh from Barnet in 2008 for £150,000 but started only one game for them.

He spent most of last season on loan at League Two side Darlington, scoring nine goals in 29 games.

"We've trailed him for a long time. He's had success where ever he's been and it's fantastic that we've got him," boss Mick Harford told Luton's website.

"Negotiations have been ongoing for several months and we've got the option to sign him permanently.

To beat off competition from clubs in the upper half of League One for a player of Liam Hatch's quality shows the ambition and attraction that Luton have

Director Antony Brown

"It was always our aim to get a player of Liam's ability to the club. He'll be a massive influence for us and a striker that will complement the other forwards we have at the club.

"Liam is ready for the challenge and is desperate to play for us."

Luton director Antony Brown said: "It's a testament to what we're trying to achieve here at this football club to be able to attract a player of Liam's ability to Kenilworth Road.

"To be able to beat off competition from clubs in the upper half of League One for a player of Liam Hatch's quality shows the ambition and attraction that Luton Town still has."
