Pompey seal Taylor switch
Defender Matthew Taylor
Luton manager Joe Kinnear rated Taylor highly
Matthew Taylor's transfer from Luton to Portsmouth will not go to a tribunal after the two parties agreed a fee.

Pompey will pay an initial 400,000 for the 20-year-old defender, rising to 750,000 on appearances.

Chief executive Peter Storrie told the official Portsmouth website: "Myself and (Luton manager) Joe Kinnear thrashed out an agreement that is thoroughly sensible."

Kinnear had been furious when the south coast club offered just 150,000 for the 20-year-old, who scored 11 goals last season.

Taylor had attracted interest from Premiership sides Newcastle, Tottenham and Sunderland before signing for Portsmouth.
