Livi forced to play in Bathgate

Almondvale Stadium, Livingston
Livingston had to play Falkirk last weekend behind closed doors

Livingston have been forced to play their pre-season friendly against Plymouth away from Almondvale because of the lack of a safety certificate.

Monday's match will now take place at nearby Creamery Park, the home of junior club Bathgate Thistle.

It is the second week in a row that Livi have been without a certificate.

Last week's friendly against Falkirk was played behind closed doors, Livingston being without electricity because of an unpaid bill.

The First Division club are close to going into administration because of legal action taken by West Lothian Council to recover unpaid rent for Almondvale Stadium.

But chairman Angelo Massone this week claimed he had now paid the electricity bill and hoped to be able to play Plymouth at their home ground.

However, the club website have announced that the match against the English Championship visitors had been moved a mile down the road to the 2,000 capacity Creamery Park.

"The decision was taken by the club after it became apparent that a safety certificate for Almondvale Stadium may not be granted in time for the match despite electricity being reconnected at the ground," said a statement.

The club has apologised to their own fans and Plymouth.
