Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel says he is enjoying his current defensive partnership with Sotirios Kyrgiakos.

The duo have started the last three Premier League games and the Greek defender scored in Sunday's 2-1 win against Blackburn.

Skrtel told BBC Radio Merseyside: "It's going really well, he's a great player.

"He's a good guy off the pitch and I like the person and player. I think he won all his headers against Blackburn and he's very good from set-pieces."

Liverpool's win over Blackburn on Sunday was only their second league win of the season, but the side remain in the relegation zone on goal difference.

I think every thing is close [at the bottom] and if we carry on winning I hope we will go higher and higher

The Slovakia international, 25, believes the Reds will start to climb the league table, but admits the current standings do not make good reading.

"The league table isn't nice when you look at it," Skrtel continued. "I think everything is close [at the bottom] and if we carry on winning I think we will go higher and higher.

"We were under pressure before the Blackburn game and everyone was expecting the win. Now that we have the win, we are very happy."
