Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is confident Brazilian Fabio Aurelio will recover from injury in time to take part in training ahead of next season.
Aurelio ruptured his Achilles tendon against PSV
The 28-year-old has had surgery after rupturing the Achilles tendon in his right leg during the Champions League win against PSV Eindhoven.
Benitez told Liverpool's website: "He will be fit for the pre-season.
"He had an operation on Wednesday and it was really good. The doctor carried out a new kind of operation."
Aurelio's injury in the 75th minute took some of the shine off Liverpool's impressive away victory over PSV.
The left-back had been in good form, providing crosses for Peter Crouch and Daniel Agger to score against Arsenal on Saturday.
Benitez added: "He was playing really well, so it was a pity to see him get injured."
