Lincoln City loan trio extend deals

Gavin Hoyte
Hoyte has impressed over the past few weeks

Lincoln City have secured loan extensions for three players - but have failed to keep defender Josh Gowling at the club.

Arsenal defender Gavin Hoyte, Millwall striker Ashley Grimes and MK Dons midfielder Luke Howell have all had their loans extended until January.

But Gowling will return to Gillingham next week after being recalled.

"It's a blow. He's come in and done a fantastic job for us," Imps boss Steve Tilson said.

"He wants to stay because he's playing well. But they [Gillingham] have got the final say and they want him back.

"There's not a lot we can do about that. We'll just have to keep our eye on him and see what happens in January. It does leave us short and it's a problem we haven't filled yet," Tilson added.

But despite losing Gowling - who will return to the Gills after City's FA Cup tie at Hereford on Saturday - Tilson was delighted to keep his other loanees.

"Grimsey is a very bright, clever player; Gavin's come in and done a fantastic job for us and Luke's given us a lot of energy and spiced up competition for places," he said.
