Manager Chris Sutton leaves Lincoln City

Chris Sutton has left his job as Lincoln City manager for personal reasons, the club has confirmed.

Assistant boss Ian Pearce has also left the Imps who are currently 20th in League Two with just two wins.

The news comes a year after former Chelsea and Blackburn striker Sutton was named boss at Sincil Bank - his first managerial role.

After taking over he guided them to 20th in League Two last season - 10 points above the relegation places.

But Sutton, who replaced Peter Jackson as boss, has been unable to improve their fortunes so far this campaign.

His last match in charge was Tuesday's goalless draw with Burton Albion.

Match summariser and former Imps manager Steve Thompson told BBC Lincolnshire: "I think for Chris Sutton it's probably been coming.

"The results, the dwindling crowds and they've not improved in 12 months so I wouldn't say I was surprised.

"Sutton took over at a difficult time from Jackson, kept Lincoln in the league but finished 20th and 12 months down the line, they're still 20th."
