Imps can beat Barnsley - Roberts

Lincoln City

Lincoln City chief executive Dave Roberts has said he believes the Imps can overcome Barnsley in the first round of the Carling Cup.

Lincoln will face the Championship side at Sincil Bank in early August.

Roberts told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "They're beatable. They only just escaped relegation and they'll have players away on international duty.

"I think we're due a good cup run, we haven't had one for a couple of seasons so hopefully this will be our year."

Roberts added: "On the commercial side I think Barnsley are fairly local, a good side with a decent fanbase and I think it will be a good night here."

The match will be played on Tuesday, 11 August at Sincil Bank (Kick-off 1945 BST).
