Lincoln have agreed a two-year deal with 20-year-old striker Chris Fagan.

Fagan is a product of former England manager Glenn Hoddle's academy in Spain and is the first to sign a contract in the Football League.

Hoddle established his project to give young players who failed to break through at top clubs a second chance.

Fagan, who is a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, was released by Manchester United at the end of the 2007/8 season.

He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "It's a great day all in all for me, it gives me something to look forward to."

"I can't wait to get going once the season starts, meet the lads and get into the swing of things."

Fagan joined United as a 16-year-old and was part of a successful FA Youth Cup side that reached the final in 2007.

But he fell out of favour at Old Trafford and had unsuccessful trials with League One side Huddersfield Town and in the Scottish Premier League at Hamilton Academical towards the end of the 2007/8 season.

He becomes the Imps manager Peter Jackson's third signing of the summer.
