Lincoln City have signed striker David Graham on a six-month contract.
Graham, 29, made his name at Torquay and had spells with Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday before joining Gillingham, whom he left in January.
Imps manager Peter Jackson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I'm giving him the chance to re-establish his career.
"He could be one of the finds of the season and one of the best players in the division bar none if we can get him playing like he was four years ago."
Graham played under Jackson during a loan spell with Huddersfield as did another of City's transfer targets ex-Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair.
Lincoln are also believed to be closing in on a goalkeeper, full-back and another striker as Jackson builds his squad for next season.
Meanwhile, defender Nat Brown has joined Blue Square Premier side Wrexham after leaving the Imps by mutual consent on Thursday.
