Williams left Colchester in September with them 23rd in League One
League One strugglers Leyton Orient have appointed Geraint Williams as manager until the end of the season.
The 47-year-old replaces Martin Ling, who left the O's by mutual consent on 18 January after more than five years in charge at Brisbane Road.
Williams guided Colchester to their highest-ever league position - 10th in the Championship in 2006/07 - but left his role as manager in September 2008.
The Welshman will be assisted by Kevin Nugent, who was caretaker boss.
