Foxes scoop awards
Tim Flowers
Flowers has been in outstanding form this season
Leicester's Peter Taylor and Tim Flowers have been named as Carling Manager and Player of the Month for September.

The news is a welcome boost for the Foxes who have a showdown with Manchester United on Saturday.

The double award comes after Taylor's side hit the top of the Premiership after beating Ipswich, Southampton and Chelsea and drawing with Everton.

It is the first time City have hit the heights in the top flight since 1963.

A spokesman for the Carling Awards Panel said: "Taking the reins of a new club is never easy for a manager, but for Peter Taylor there was the added challenge of filling the boots of Martin O'Neill - one of the most respected and popular men in the game.

"But Taylor has taken life in the Premiership in his stride and has used his considerable experience to take Leicester to the top of the league, this achievement clearly merits such an award.

"All the best sides must have a keeper they can rely on and in Tim Flowers, City currently have the form keeper in the Premiership having conceded only two goals in eight league games."
