I still have plenty to offer Leicester - Darius Vassell

Vassell relishing Eriksson link-up

Former England international striker Darius Vassell insists he has plenty to offer after joining Leicester City until the end of next season.

Vassell, 30, had an unsuccessful spell with Turkish side Ankaragucu after leaving Manchester City in 2009.

But he told BBC East Midlands Today: "I still feel young - about 25 - and there's a lot of football left in me.

"Things didn't go the way I had planned out in Turkey. It is time to for me to come back to England."

Vassell will once again link up with Sven-Goran Eriksson - his manager at Manchester City and also with the national team.

And Vassell is eager to get his career back on track.

"I'm looking forward to playing and getting Leicester City back up the table," he said. "It's a very exciting thing.

"I feel like I need a couple of weeks to get back into the swing of things to get sharp. I want to get back firing on all cylinders and that's what I'm working towards now."

Vassell's new Foxes team-mate Steve Howard, 34, also feels he can be a key player in the club's quest to climb up the Championship table and towards a play-off spot after signing an extended deal .

"I'm really pleased," Howard told BBC Radio Leicester. "I'm the fittest I've ever been and I'm loving it, I'm enjoying every minute.

"It's exciting times. Sven's come in and we are starting to play some good stuff and win some games."
