Captain Matt Oakley says a Leicester City win away against second-placed MK Dons on Saturday will all but ensure Championship football next season.
Oakley has played a key role in the 20-game unbeaten run which has taken the Foxes 12 points clear in League One.
The Dons do have two games in hand but third-placed Peterborough, who like Leicester have played 33 games, are 13 points adrift in third spot.
Oakley told BBC Radio Leicester: "I'm sure if we win we'll win promotion."
But the 31-year-old midfielder said that the Foxes do not want to give their opponents any hope of overtaking them.

"If we don't get the result that we want it gives them that little incentive to try to catch us," Oakley said.
"But the position we are in, it will take some run for someone to catch us now.
"If you ask them now I think they might just settle for second place.
"But if they get that win it gives the the opportunity that they might catch us and we might slip up.
"We are on a run of 20 games unbeaten and the lads are confident we can continue that."
