Celtic defender Bobo Balde has apologised to James Wesolowski for the challenge that broke the Leicester defender's leg last week.
The 17-year-old underwent surgery on Wednesday but the injury will sideline him until the start of next year.
Wesolowski told the Sunday Mail: "Bobo had sent me a couple of text messages and also left a few voicemails to see how I am getting on.
"He sounded genuinely concerned for my well-being. I appreciate the gesture."
Wesolowski is now concentrating on regaining full fitness and resuming his career.
He added: "Bobo told me he'd like us to meet up in the near future. We might speak over the next few days and try to arrange something.
"I could be feeling bitter at this moment but these things happen - it is part and parcel of being a footballer.
"I will just need to work hard over the next few months during rehabilitation.
"It will be a long, hard struggle but I want to make sure I bounce back into the first team and return as strong as possible."
