Leicester's Muzzy Izzet will sign for Birmingham when his contract expires in the summer, according to reports.
Izzet will make a decision on his future at the end of the season
Birmingham are poised to beat arch-rivals Aston Villa in the chase for the 29-year-old midfield man, who is available on a free transfer.
Charlton are also interested, but Steve Bruce looks to have won the race.
Izzet's agent Jonathan Barnett told BBC Sport: "A lot of clubs are interested, but Muzzy is still under contract to Leicester and has not agreed anything."
It is reported Birmingham's willingness to match Izzet's current £30,000-a-week deal at Leicester has swung the deal.
If Villa do miss out on Izzet, it will be the third time they have have failured to capture their target.
David O'Leary's Villa Park predecessors Graham Taylor and John Gregory both failed in moves to sign Izzet.
