Relegation ruins Walker's hopes
Ian Walker of Leicester City
Walker missed out on the 1998 World Cup in France
Ian Walker believes that Leicester City's nightmare season may have wrecked his World Cup finals dreams.

Walker also missed out on the 1998 finals after being part of the training squad at La Manga.

The former Spurs keeper believes he has been in some of the best form of his career during the current campaign for the Foxes.

We've let in a lot of goals but I feel I have played as I would have liked to have played
Ian Walker
However, he could not save City from being relegated from the Premiership after a six-year spell in the top flight.

He said: "Maybe they (England) don't bother coming down to the bottom of the league.

"I don't know why - but there is not a lot I can do about it.

"In a funny way it has been one of my best seasons.

"We've let in a lot of goals but I feel I have played as I would have liked to have played near enough all season.

"My performances have been pretty good and I've been consistent but it does go against me that we are bottom of the league and have been for most of the season.

"I accept the situation. You get the knockbacks and I've just tried to keep going, kept working hard and doing my best for the team."
