Foxes name new ground
The ground is expected to be ready for next season
Leicester City will name their new ground the Walkers Bowl, the club has revealed.
The Foxes are expected to move to their new home at Freemen's Wharf ahead of the start of next season. And on Tuesday, the club confirmed it had sold the naming rights to Walkers Snacks Limited for an initial 10-year period for £1.5m. Former Leicester City striker Gary Lineker welcomed the news about the 32,000-seater venue.
The BBC pundit said: "Walkers and Leicester have a great historical partnership based on the beginning of the business in 1948 and this new agreement almost makes them inseparable." The new £35m stadium is due to be completed on 30 June. And, as part of the deal, Walkers will continue to sponsor the club's youth academy and junior membership schemes. State of the art The company's chief executive, Martin Glenn, said: "We hope that this gives our employees as well as the local community in general a real sense of pride and represents a real long-term commitment to the club by Walkers." Club chief executive Steve Kind hailed the new deal as "excellent news for Leicester City". Kind said: "Walkers are a national brand with a local focus through their manufacturing plant in Leicestershire. "The Walkers Bowl is one of the best state-of-the-art stadia in the country and a flagship development, not just for the club but the community and city of Leicester as a whole."
