Bridges out for four months
Michael Bridges
Leeds striker Michael Bridges faces lengthy absence
Leeds United striker Michael Bridges will be out of action for four months after being told he needs an operation on his ankle.

The 22-year-old was injured in the 0-0 draw with Besiktas in the Champions League and was carried from the pitch on a stretcher.

Manager David O'Leary said: "Michael's injury was in a terrible state when we looked on Monday and he will be out for some time."

"Michael needs an operation - his leg is a total mess.

"I've seen the injury and it looks horrendous. I don't know exactly how long he will be missing for but it looks like being a long time.

"It is a blow, but such is life," O'Leary told the Yorkshire Post. "It reflects the way things have been going for us and we will just have to get on with things."

Bridges was Leeds' first choice striker last season when he scored 22 goals, but since the arrival of Mark Viduka he has been left on the substitutes bench.
