Leeds United sign Spurs midfielder Jake Livermore

Leeds United have signed midfielder Jake Livermore on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old academy product made his Spurs first team debut against Arsenal in the Carling Cup this term.

Meanwhile, Leeds will not appeal against the red card striker Billy Paynter received at Sheffield United, so he will be banned for three games.

And captain Johnny Howson will not be joining up with England under-21s because of a slight hamstring injury.

With Paynter out and Howson possibly unavailable for selection Livermore's arrival has come just at the right time for Leeds.

Manager Simon Grayson told the club website: "Jake is a hungry, young player who has gained good experience at this level with both Derby and Ipswich.

"We're at an important stage of the season and he gives us increased competition for places. He is a good addition to our squad."
