Grayson has confidence in squad

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson believes he has the squad to gain promotion even if it starts the campaign weaker than last time around.

Top scorer Jermaine Beckford and midfielder Fabian Delph have been constantly linked to moves away.

And Grayson told BBC Radio Leeds: "We have the nucleus of a good squad and if we lose one or two then we will try and replace them.

"Hopefully the players we bring in will be the right ones to get us promoted."

Meanwhile, Grimsby Town boss Mike Newell has reiterated his desire to sign United midfielder Peter Sweeney.

Sweeney spent eight games on loan at the League Two club at the end of last season but has not featured for Leeds in over a year.
