McAllister to name Leeds captain

Jonathan Douglas could be replaced as Leeds skipper

Leeds United manager Gary McAllister has hinted he could change his captain before their opening game of the season at Scunthorpe on Saturday.

Midfielder Jonathan Douglas had the role last season.

And McAllister told BBC Radio Leeds: "I have it sorted in my mind who it will be but just want to name him in the lead-up to the Scunthorpe game.

"I want 11 leaders on that pitch and I'll grab the lads and name my captain in the middle of this week."

Douglas, 26, has one year left on his current deal after signing in August 2006 following a successful loan spell from Blackburn.

He has made over 100 appearances for Leeds, scoring nine goals.
