New Leeds chairman Ken Bates has told manager Kevin Blackwell his future at the club will be judged on results.
"I know nothing about Kevin's ability but the proof of the pudding is in the eating," said Bates, who has bought a 50% stake in the Elland Road outfit.
"I'll give him my full support and he will be judged on results."
Bates believes promotion this season may be too soon for Leeds and he added: "Getting to play offs will be a bonus but I'm not sure it is realistic."
He continued: "I wouldn't like to get promoted because if you go up before you're ready you'll come back down.
"My aim for promotion in the next few years, get established in the Premiership, and then aim for the top six."
