Ford was taken off early during Saturday's victory over Motherwell
Kilmarnock defender Simon Ford has been ruled out for six weeks with a torn hamstring suffered on Saturday.
Ford was forced from the field during the early stages of the 1-0 win over Motherwell at Rugby Park in the Scottish Premier League.
Killie boss Jim Jefferies said: "Simon's got a grade two tear and will be out for six weeks.
"It's a huge blow, especially on top of fellow defender Ryan O'Leary being ruled out long term."
Jefferies thought he had sufficient cover - provided nobody else followed the duo on to the sidelines.
"Hopefully, we don't get a spate of injuries now, although there are options we didn't have last year," said the manager, whose side sit third in the SPL.
"The specialist was hopeful it wasn't torn on Saturday. But, by Monday, there was a lot of swelling."
