Kilmarnock have signed Italian midfielder Manuel Pascali on a three-year deal.

The 26-year-old has joined for an undisclosed fee from Parma after impressing during Killie's pre-season training camp in Tuscany.

Pascali then scored the only goal in last month's friendly win over QPR.

The holding midfielder was recommended by Stefano Salvatori, who played for Killie boss Jim Jefferies during his spell as manager of Hearts.

Pascali had been available on a loan deal but the Ayrshire club agreed an undisclosed fee for the former Cremonese player on Wednesday evening.

"I thought James Fowler did well last season but I felt we needed a bit of cover in that area as well," Jefferies told BBC Sport.

"He's a really good lad, he's settled in quickly and I'm sure he will do really well for us."

Pascali is looking forward to a new challenge and locking horns with the Old Firm after watching them on television back in his homeland.

"We are used to playing on a Sunday in Italy and so we watch the Scottish matches on occasions on a Saturday," he said.

"I know all the Celtic and Rangers players because they also play in the Champions League and Celtic have an Italian player, Massimo Donati, and they have Shunsuke Nakamura who played for a long time in Italy.

"So playing against Celtic and Rangers will be a dream come true."
