Jefferies rues overzealous Wright
Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies
Jefferies insisted that his player meant nothing malicious
Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies says desperation was the only reason Frazer Wright got himself red-carded.

The Killie defender was sent off in the closing minutes of the 1-0 defeat to Falkirk after clashing with Bairns' keeper Tim Krul.

"We were saying to players that they have to be desperate," Jefferies said.

"Frazer said the keeper had spilled it and he followed it in, he didn't stamp on him - he just slid in and caught him and Krul reacted."

"The referee deemed it a red card but I don't know, I never seen it."

Krul also received his marching orders for his part in the incident.

"You are looking for people to attack the ball and in the first half their keeper was picking the ball out of the air with no-one near him," Jefferies continued

"We had to show more determination which was the case in the second half which led to a shot coming through a ruck of players.

"But we were punished for our first half slackness and didn't do enough in the second half to get it back."
