Gary Whild joins Harriers after five years at Redditch United

Kidderminster Harriers have confirmed ex-Redditch United manager Gary Whild is to join the club as assistant to manager Steve Burr.

Whild left the Blue Square North side at the end of the the season, after five years at the club.

Meanwhile, striker Robbie Matthews has been placed on the transfer list after one season at Aggborough.

The club have also confirmed keepers Dean Coleman and Jasbir Singh will not have their contracts renewed.

Coleman joined Harriers in 2007 and made 43 appearances whilst Singh played seven times last season following his summer move from Shrewsbury.

He has done an unbelievable job at Redditch and has a knack of knowing young players who are keen to achieve.

Matthews, a former Crawley Town player, joined last summer on a two-year contract and netted nine goals in 39 appearances.

Speaking about Whild's appointment, Burr told the club website: "I spoke to Gary about a month ago about the possibility of him coming here and I am delighted to get him.

"He has done an unbelievable job at Redditch and has a knack of knowing young players who are keen to achieve."

Whild began his managerial career with Stourport Swifts as assistant to Rod Brown before the pair switched to Redditch United, where they guided the club into the Blue Square North.

When Brown departed Valley Stadium in the 2005/06 season Whild took up the challenge of keeping Redditch away from relegation danger, and this season they finished one place above the drop zone.
