Kidderminster sign Redditch midfielder Jack Byrne

Kidderminster Harriers

Kidderminster have signed 20-year-old midfielder Jack Byrne from Blue Square North neighbours Redditch United.

Byrne has been training with the Harriers for two weeks and says he is delighted to have made the switch.

"It's a great move for me as it gives me the opportunity to prove myself at the next level," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I've only signed until the end of the season so I am hoping to earn something for next year," he added.

Byrne began his career with Solihull Moors under Mickey Moore whom he then followed to Stratford Town.

When Moore became assistant manager to Gary Whild at Redditch last summer, Byrne again opted to follow him to Valley Stadium, where he has enjoyed a good season.

Harriers manager Steve Burr said: "He has always stuck out for Redditch when they have played against teams I have had in the past.

"We can give him the chance to come here and the rest is down to him," he added.
