McDermott signs new Harriers deal

Kidderminster Harriers midfielder David McDermott has signed a new one-year deal with the Blue Square Premier club.

McDermott joined Harriers last summer and made 29 first-team appearances last season, scoring one goal.

The 21-year-old told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "Last season was frustrating so I'm really looking forward to getting a chance to show what I can do.

"In the games I played I think I did well, but I've got a lot more to show people," he added.

"Last time around I would have liked to have played a lot more," he continued.

"But whereas when I was at Walsall I sort of threw in the towel when I was not being played, at Kidderminster I've just made sure I stayed fit and knuckled down."

Harriers reported back for pre-season training on Wednesday and despite the oppressive conditions McDermott said he could hardly wait to get back into the hard work.

"Once we'd been off for a week at the end of April I was ready to come back, so it was good to get out there today," he said.
