Norgrove wants Harriers hand-out

Kidderminster Harriers chairman Barry Norgrove says the shortfall in the club's finances through the collapse of Setanta will hit them hard.

Norgrove says he feels the Premier League should help out the lower-league clubs with a share of the money.

"This has come as a big blow, we could lose between £70,000 and £90,000," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester.

"The Premier League have a new deal and I think they should filter some of that down through the leagues."

He added: "We spoke to the Conference who say they can't give us anything definite at the moment.

"So do we gamble on signing players in the hope we will get more television money ?

"We are hoping we can get something in the way of compensation.

"The League put the squeeze on Setanta, so they have sorted themselves out and we think it's only fair they help us.

"We have to keep everything going to make the whole system work."

Norgrove told BBC Hereford and Worcester they had not budgeted for individual games which would have been shown by the station:

"When you are near the top you get more games, at around £13,000 a game it makes a difference , but we didn't get on that often last season."

Blue Square South side Worcester City say they have lost in the region of £12,000.

They would were expecting to receive £15,000 of broadcasting funds held by the Conference, but this will now be reduced to £3,000.
