Kettering Town chairman Imraan Ladak has insisted supporters are backing the club's move to Nene Park.

Ladak confirmed season ticket sales have nearly doubled compared to last year since the Blue Square Bet Premier outfit opted to leave Rockingham Road.

The Poppies took over the home ground of Rushden & Diamonds after their former rivals went into administration.

"Last year we sold 500 season tickets and now we're at around 1,000," Ladak told BBC Radio Northampton.

"Initially our supporters were against the move - but that's changed because we've been really honest with them.

"We've explained the situation at Rockingham Road and they've realised there's no option."

He added: "Once the decision to move had been made there were still fans who weren't happy.

"But now we're looking at way over 95% of them coming with us."

Kettering face Newport County on Saturday in their first match at the club's new home ground.
