Kettering offer to waive TV fee

Kettering Town

Blue Square Premier side Kettering Town have offered to waive their £160,000 fee in order to have their FA Cup fourth-round tie with Fulham televised.

FA Cup television broadcasters ITV and Setanta have decided not to show the Rockingham Road tie on 24 January live.

The Poppies are willing to change the date of the game - the only definite fourth-round tie between non-league and Premier League opposition.

The broadcasters are yet to respond to the Poppies' offer.

Kettering feel that the game should be shown because of the gap between the two clubs in league places, and to raise awareness and charitable aid in Palestine, as their match shirt bares the slogan Palestine Aid.

Chairman Imraan Ladak told the club's website: "We were all very disappointed when the news was announced, but we hope our offer will allow ITV or Setanta to help increase awareness of the humanitarian crisis, whilst giving Kettering, Fulham and the neutral supporter the chance to watch one of the ties of the round."
