Andy Drury excited by step up to Championship

Ipswich Town midfielder Andy Drury says he had to adapt to the intensity of the Championship in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hull.

The 27-year-old made his first start for Town having played all his previous club football in the non-league.

"It is a bit more intense. You have to concentrate all the time because there's always somebody running off you," he told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"But it's about how I play really and I felt comfortable in myself."

Drury was making his second appearance in an Ipswich shirt since joining from Luton for £150,000 on transfer deadline day in January.

An injury to David Norris and Jimmy Bullard's ineligibility against his parent club gave the former Stevenage man his opportunity.

Everyone's got to work their socks off to keep their place. Whatever team the gaffer picks, I'm sure it will be the best team

And he hopes he showed enough quality and fitness to feature against table-toppers QPR on Tuesday.

"I felt OK out there but in the last five or 10 minutes I got a little bit tired, but I'll build on that," he said.

"It wouldn't be a problem if I were to play Tuesday.

"Everyone's got to work their socks off to keep their place.

"Whatever team the gaffer picks, I'm sure it will be the best team."
