Ipswich Town keeper Richard Wright out for four months

Ipswich are hopeful Wright will not need surgery on his knee

Ipswich Town will be without goalkeeper Richard Wright for around four months after he tore a knee ligament in Sunday's 2-1 win at Cardiff City.

He was forced off midway through the first half after colliding with Bluebirds striker Michael Chopra.

Physio Matt Byard told Ipswich's website: "Richard has a partial tear to his cruciate ligament. We expect him to be out for around four months."

The club hope that the ex-England international will not require surgery.

Wright's injury led to Arran Lee-Barrett coming on for his first senior appearance for the club.

He now remains Ipswich's only senior goalkeeper after Asmir Begovic cut his loan spell at Portman Road short and returned to Portsmouth last week.
