Injury rules Norris out of opener

David Norris
Norris missed the last six weeks of the 2007/08 season.

Ipswich Town midfielder David Norris has been ruled out of their opening Championship match at home to Preston.

The 27-year-old has been struggling with a heel injury since being forced off in their friendly with Brentford.

Town say the injury is not related to the heel problem which required an operation earlier in the year.

Physio Matt Byard told the club's official website: "We are not going to put a timescale on his return, he is making progress."
