Ipswich have signed Reading striker Nicky Forster on a free transfer.
Forster scored seven league goals for Reading last season
The out-of-contract Forster, 31 has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Ipswich - the same deal he was denied at Reading.
Ipswich chairman David Sheepshanks told the club's website: "Joe Royle was extremely keen to secure him as an experienced and wily striker.
"Nicky is the first of a number of signings that we hope to confirm over the coming days and weeks."
Royle has also been given permission by Swindon to speak to Sam Parkin, who scored 24 goals for the League One side in the 2004/05 campaign.
Parkin has already spoken to Watford, while Ipswich, Norwich and Brighton have also tabled bids for the prolific 24-year-old marksman.
