Ipswich chief adds to Royle funds

Ipswich chief executive Derek Bowden has added to the club's loan budget by handing over his £75,000 bonus to the loan fund for boss Joe Royle.

Instead of pocketing the cash himself, Bowden decided to put the well-being of the club before his own personal needs.

A club spokesman said: "At this moment Derek would rather the manager had extra cash to add to his loan fund and to deal with as he sees fit."

Bowden's bonus was based on targets set by the board's remuneration committee.
