Dane signs for Ipswich
Burley is building for the future at Portman Road
Ipswich have completed the 1m signing of defender Thomas Gaardsoe from Danish club Aalborg on a four-year contract.

Manager George Burley said: "Thomas has great potential over the next few years and has played at every level for Denmark.

"It will be difficult for him to break straight into the first team, however we are not just looking at the next game but at the future of the club also."

Although Aalborg are joint top of the Danish league, 21-year-old Gaardsoe had no doubts about moving.

"We have a lot of Danish players in England and they all say it is a good challenge and I am very excited to come here," he said.

"I have seen Ipswich play on TV and they are a good side, and I've good impressions of the Premiership."

Gaardsoe made his debut for Aalborg four years ago and figures in the Danish Under-21 squad for the matches against Northern Ireland on Friday and in Bulgaria four days later.

He joins a number of other new recruits at Ipswich, including record signing Matteo Sereni, Nigerian winger Finidi George, Spanish striker Pablo Counago, Tommy Miller and Andy Marshall.

Sixto Peralta, an Argentinian midfielder, is also at Portman Road on a season's loan from Inter Milan.
