Inverness CT defender Ross Tokely is set to play his 500th game for the Highland club at Airdrie on Saturday.

Tokely is already the club's record appearance holder and has played with the club in all four senior divisions.

The 30-year-old began his career at Highland League side Huntly before Steve Paterson brought him to the Caledonian Stadium in 1996.

It's an honour to play 500 games. I think I've done well for the club and they've done well for me," said Tokely.

And he added: "I've enjoyed the seasons I've had in the various leagues and to play five years in the Scottish Premier League is something I never thought I'd do.

"It wrote off a lot of doubters. It's something I'm doing every week, showing people I can play football, and that I can perform out there.

"When I first came the ambition was to play SPL football, and we've progressed through the leagues.

"We've had some terrific wins in the cups and I've just been delighted to be part of it."

Looking back through his time with the club, Tokely was clear about what stood out as the highlight of his time in Inverness.

I'm just here to play games and help the guys get a win

"I think that promotion here that day against St Johnstone was something I'd love to live over every day," he said.

"It's something not every player goes through. It was a tremendous team effort and I don't think people ever gave us the credit we deserved.

"I think that team that year was one of the best I've ever played with."

However, despite his iconic status at the club, Tokely is facing an uncertain future, with his contract due to expire at the season's end.

"I'm out of contract at the end of the season so everything's a bit up in the air," said the right-back.

"The gaffer's out of contract as well and no-one's mentioned a word, but I'm just here to play games and help the guys get a win."
