Byrne spent three seasons with Aberdeen after leaving Dunfermline
Former Aberdeen defender Richie Byrne has been training with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Byrne left the Dons in the summer to sign a one-month contract with Oldham Athletic and made four appearances for the Boundary Park club.
The 27-year-old has been capped once by Republic of Ireland B, scoring against Scotland B in 2007.
Inverness manager Craig Brewster said he would wait until January before deciding whether to sign Byrne.
The full-back, who has previously played for Shamrock Rovers and Dunfermline, has been training with the SPL club since his contract expired with Oldham.
And Brewster told his club website: "I played with him at Dunfermline and Aberdeen but he's been troubled by injuries over the past year or so.
"He could be an option for us in January if he's available and I like him as a player."
