Niculae completes Inverness exit

Niculae played for Romania in the Euro 2008 finals

Romania striker Marius Niculae has completed his return to Dinamo Bucharest from Inverness Caley Thistle.

Last week Dinamo announced details of a four-year deal but Inverness warned it would not go through unless the player waived his right to a cut of the fee.

Inverness received around £400,000 for Niculae, who scored 10 goals last term and had a year to run on his contract.

The SPL club had a verbal agreement with Niculae that he could leave if a major club made an acceptable offer.

Kaiserslautern had an approach turned down, while Turkish club Kayserispor and PAOK of Greece were also interested in the player who joined Inverness from German outfit Mainz last summer.

Dinamo offered a smaller fee than Kaiserslautern, which was agreed to by Caley Thistle on condition that the player waived what football director Graeme Bennett referred to as "certain privileges".

The 27-year-old was then given permission by Inverness to take time out of their pre-season training schedule to return to Romania for "personal reasons".

Marius Niculae in goalscoring form for Inverness CT

Niculae began his career with Dinamo before a switch to Sporting Lisbon in 2001 and spent four seasons in Portugal before his move to Germany.

His return to form in Scotland earned the striker an international recall and Niculae featured in two of Romania's three group matches at Euro 2008.

Meanwhile, Inverness manager Craig Brewster is still awaiting word from Hearts following their bid to take striker Calum Elliot on loan.

New Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo has given permission for Elliot to be farmed out, but other clubs, including MK Dons, are interested in the 21-year-old.

Interest in trialist striker Adam Rooney continues.
