Inverness manager Craig Brewster hopes to sign striker Andy Barrowman from local rivals Ross County.
The 23-year-old is out of contract after scoring 29 goals for the Division Two champions this season.
"It is my main priority to sign a forward and it has been highlighted on many occasions that I am keen on Andy Barrowman," Brewster told the P&J.
"I spoke to him about making a decision and he could not guarantee he would before going on holiday."
Barrowman moved to Victoria Park last summer after failing to make an impact at Kilmarnock.
He had a loan spell at Queen of the South but only found the net once during his time with the Dumfries club.
Brewster also revealed that St Johnstone and Dunfermline are keen on forward Graham Bayne, who still has a year of his contract to run, while Steven Watt and Dean McDonald will be leaving.
